Timelapse “Eden’s Dawn Light”

No money was made in the making of this video using the song Canvas & Clay [King of My Heart] (feat. DOE & Jonathan Traylor) | Maverick City Music. I do not own the rights.

I had no plan for this artwork but to let it flow. I worked on this piece for 4 sessions each lasting a couple hours over the last few days. Before starting each session I read from the Bible and prayed to invite the Holy Spirit into the process. The tree started to take form which represents the tree of life in the garden of Eden. The pink snake represents the real evil that is always close by us on this side of heaven. I couldn’t find much out about the verse from Hebrew 2 “bright with Eden’s Dawn light. But to me it means that the day is coming that God will set everything right, his glory will shine as he first intended things to be in the garden. I think it means that our mind is the garden of Eden and each dawn or each day we have a chance to get things right in our hearts and minds. The seeds that we are planting in our gardens, in our minds or in other words the things we think about become our reality. Most of the problems we will face in this life will be in our own minds. How we respond to what’s going on around us. Acceptance. Most things we have no control over. When fear and doubt take over your mind it can spread like weeds. Don’t let negativity take root in your mind. Look to the word of God to renew your mind. Taking time to read and reflect before I paint has been healing me and brings me closer to God each time. It’s pretty exciting when everything starts to connect and intertwine.

This painting represents the miracle that each dawn brings us. A new day to praise God and share the light. Each day is a gift from God to experience another day in his glorious creation. The tree of life represents the wisdom of Gods word and the fruit it will produce from reading and obeying. God created boundaries so that we could live our life to the fullest and experience all of Gods glory. When we give into sin we experience a psychological death sometime even a physical death. But the good news is everyday we can turn back around to God, repent and ask for forgiveness. Gods love is unconditional so he will forgive us and we will have eternal life.

“It’s crucial that we keep a firm grip on what we’ve heard so that we don’t drift off. If the old message delivered by the angels was valid and nobody got away with anything, do you think we can risk neglecting this latest message, this magnificent salvation? First of all, it was delivered in person by the Master, then accurately passed on to us by those who heard it from him. All the while God was validating it with gifts through the Holy Spirit, all sorts of signs and miracles, as he saw fit.

God didn’t put angels in charge of this business of salvation that we’re dealing with here. It says in Scripture, What is man and woman that you bother with them; why take a second look their way? You made them not quite as high as angels, bright with Eden’s dawn light; Then you put them in charge of your entire handcrafted world. When God put them in charge of everything, nothing was excluded. But we don’t see it yet, don’t see everything under human jurisdiction. What we do see is Jesus, made “not quite as high as angels,” and then, through the experience of death, crowned so much higher than any angel, with a glory “bright with Eden’s dawn light.” In that death, by God’s grace, he fully experienced death in every person’s place. It makes good sense that the God who got everything started and keeps everything going now completes the work by making the Salvation Pioneer perfect through suffering as he leads all these people to glory.

Since the One who saves and those who are saved have a common origin, Jesus doesn’t hesitate to treat them as family, saying, I’ll tell my good friends, my brothers and sisters, all I know about you; I’ll join them in worship and praise to you. Again, he puts himself in the same family circle when he says, Even I live by placing my trust in God. And yet again, I’m here with the children God gave me. Since the children are made of flesh and blood, it’s logical that the Savior took on flesh and blood in order to rescue them by his death. By embracing death, taking it into himself, he destroyed the Devil’s hold on death and freed all who cower through life, scared to death of death. It’s obvious, of course, that he didn’t go to all this trouble for angels. It was for people like us, children of Abraham. That’s why he had to enter into every detail of human life. Then, when he came before God as high priest to get rid of the people’s sins, he would have already experienced it all himself—all the pain, all the testing—and would be able to help where help was needed.”

I recorded a time lapse video to watch now “Completion”

Jesus, a human being in every sense of the word. And He died for you and me! That makes me want to live my life in a way that makes His death worth it. He left a trail for us to follow, a path that leads to a peace that passes all understanding. There are signs everywhere and the Holy Spirit is most certainly present.

I was hoping to paint this live at Hope + Elim for Good Friday 2020. But services were cancelled due to covid-19. I was inspired to paint this outside as the sun was setting hoping to get the effect of the sky darkening just like the day Jesus was on the cross. Being outside while the sun was setting painting the path to the cross made me really think about the pain and suffering Jesus went through. I imagined being there and seeing Jesus dragging the cross up that road. I was very emotional painting His body hanging on that cross and picturing what he endured for each and every one of us. Incredible sacrificial love! The color red is to represents the blood of Jesus, love of God, blood of lamb, atonement and salvation. Jesus rose up as lion to set His captives free! Jesus brought about the completion of all the Old Testament prophecies, symbols, and foreshadowing about Himself. Tetelestai. It is finished!
